Samsung has launched several new types of devices over the past couple of years. After launching the Galaxy XR and the Galaxy Z TriFold last year, the South Korean firm announced its first AI-powered smart glasses last week. Next year, it could launch a successor to the Galaxy Z TriFold.
According to a report from ETNews, Samsung is planning to follow a “4+4” launch strategy. It could launch four conventional Galaxy S series phones in the first half of 2027 and four Galaxy Z series phones in the second half of the year. This would offer consumers a broad range of choices and help Samsung solidify its market position in new form factors, such as foldable phones.
The four high-end phones planned for the first half of 2027 are said to be the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Pro, and Galaxy S27 Ultra. The four Galaxy Z series phones could be the Galaxy Z Flip 9, Galaxy Z Fold 9, Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra, and a successor to the Galaxy Z TriFold.

Samsung is reportedly in the early development phase for the Galaxy Z TriFold's successor and has started sharing project details with manufacturing partners. The phone could launch in July 2027 and is said to feature a 9.96-inch main display with a 4:3 aspect ratio and a 6.49-inch cover display. It could also have an inward-folding design.

The South Korean firm is reportedly planning to expand production beyond the Galaxy Z TriFold's limited run of 30,000 units. While the Galaxy Z TriFold was launched as a technological showcase, its successor is expected to target broader market adoption.
